As the National Day holiday approaches, Wuhu Xuanzhou Airport has reached an important milestone in its service upgrades — security lanes 5 and 6 in the terminal have officially reopened after renovation, offering passengers faster and more hassle-free screening.
The upgrade converted the original single lane into a dual-lane configuration, effectively easing congestion during peak hours. Alongside the renovation, new convenience facilities have been introduced, providing strong support for efficient passenger travel during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
To address the challenges of easy congestion during peak periods and limited space at the airport, the security lane renovation at Wuhu Xuanzhou Airport strictly followed civil aviation security regulations and was designed comprehensively and meticulously based on the actual needs of passengers.
The upgraded dual lanes not only speed up passenger screening but also reflect thoughtful consideration in multiple details. The new lanes feature a dedicated security basket transfer cart, an innovative measure that replaces the previous manual back-and-forth hauling of empty baskets by staff. This significantly improves basket turnover efficiency and prevents screening pace disruptions caused by untimely supply of empty baskets.
Meanwhile, the previously fixed passenger guidance desk has been replaced with an operation table embedded with ball bearings, allowing luggage to slide smoothly into the X-ray machine during pushing. This greatly reduces instances of luggage jamming and the need for repeated dragging, making it easy even for heavy bags to pass through the scanner.
Beyond improved throughput efficiency, the sense of space and safety in the lanes has also been enhanced. The previously fixed computer used for manual bag checks has been converted into a liftable, hideaway device that can be flexibly adjusted in height during operation and fully stowed into the countertop when idle. This frees up valuable lane space and eliminates potential bumping or falling hazards from exposed equipment, making security operations more standardized and safe.
To ensure the smooth operation of the new lanes, the Security and Escort Department of Wuhu Xuanzhou Airport organized specialized training for all security personnel in advance, covering the operation of new equipment and dual-lane workflow procedures, laying a solid foundation for safeguarding the first checkpoint of travel safety.
Following the launch of the dual lanes, two X-ray machines can now screen luggage simultaneously, effectively alleviating the previous pressure of a single lane. Overall security throughput capacity has been significantly improved, and queuing congestion during peak hours has been notably reduced, making passenger screening more efficient and smooth.
