AI Firm Anthropic Joins Forces with Macquarie and Singapore's GIC to Build Computing Centers

Anthropic PBC, the artificial intelligence company, has announced a strategic partnership with Macquarie Asset Management and Singapore's sovereign wealth fund, GIC, to construct dedicated computing data centers for its AI product, Claude. The collaboration is centered around a newly established entity named Theseus Infrastructure. According to a joint statement from the three companies on Monday, this entity will serve as a platform for developing AI computing infrastructure, with an initial focus on the U.S. market.

Macquarie and GIC have committed to covering the majority of equity investments in individual projects, while Anthropic will be responsible for any potential increases in consumer-end electricity costs that may arise during project operations. The specific investment amounts and project scales were not disclosed by the parties. Currently, banks and institutional investors are rapidly entering the infrastructure sector that supports AI services, an area where AI companies like Anthropic hold high expectations and promise substantial economic returns.

Meanwhile, global tech giants are also investing in data centers and chip construction at an unprecedented pace, driven by similar logic. Compared to rival OpenAI's high-profile launch of the "Stargate" data center joint venture, Anthropic has made few large-scale public moves in data center partnerships. Notably, Anthropic is preparing for a highly anticipated public listing. The company stated in 2025 that it plans to invest $50 billion in building customized data centers across multiple U.S. regions, including Texas and New York. Recently, backed by a financial guarantee from Google, Anthropic secured a $35 billion loan to lease computing chips for five data centers.
