Official figures from the Bank of Korea released on Wednesday show that per capita household net worth in South Korea increased by more than 9% year-on-year in 2025, driven by rising property and securities prices.

According to the national balance sheet data published by the central bank, the per capita household net worth reached 274.7 million won (approximately $185,600) last year, marking a 9.1% increase from the previous year.

The Bank of Korea explained that this figure was calculated by dividing the total assets of households and non-profit institutions, amounting to 14,200 trillion won, by the nation's total population of 51.6 million.

This represents a significant acceleration in growth, as the increase was only 3% back in 2024.

An official from the central bank stated that the asset appreciation was propelled by favorable conditions in the country's primary securities market and overseas stock markets last year, with rising real estate prices further contributing to the expansion of overall asset values.

The Bank of Korea noted that when converted using the average exchange rate for 2025, the per capita household net worth figure equates to about $193,000.
