Hong Kong's stock market kicked off Wednesday's trading session on a positive note, with the benchmark Hang Seng Index climbing 0.42% to open at 25,807.61 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index also edged up 0.21% to 4,710.41 points, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.37% to 8,579.64 points. This upbeat opening comes despite a mixed performance in the technology sector, where some heavyweights managed to post solid gains.

Among the tech majors, Alibaba-W (09988) and Xiaomi-W (01810) both surged more than 2% at the market open, providing strong support for the broader index. Meanwhile, gold-related stocks displayed notable strength, with SD Gold (01787) jumping over 3%, Zijin Mining (02899) advancing nearly 3%, and both Zhaojin Mining (01818) and Laopu Gold (06181) rising more than 2%. The property sector also showed vitality, as Henderson Land (00012) gained over 3%, while in the logistics space, J&T Express-W (01519) climbed more than 4%.

Overnight on Wall Street, all three major US indices closed in negative territory, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 1.32%, the S&P 500 dropping 0.87%, and the Nasdaq Composite declining 1.00%. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index also retreated by 1.1%. Despite this bearish sentiment from the US markets, Hong Kong shares managed to buck the trend and open higher, signaling renewed investor confidence in the region's equities.
