First Half of 2026 Sees 116,000 New Humanoid Robot Companies Established

The State Administration for Market Regulation released data on August 8, revealing that in the first half of 2026, companies in emerging industries and new tracks continued to gain momentum. The humanoid robot sector recorded 116,000 newly established enterprises, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%. Service-related business entities stood out with notable highlights, while the transformation of manufacturing enterprises accelerated, showcasing a vibrant industrial landscape.

Companies in emerging industries and new tracks continued to build momentum. In the first half of the year, 561,000 new enterprises were established across the "8 major emerging industries and 9 future industries," maintaining a stable growth trend. Some frontier fields experienced explosive growth, with 55,000 new companies in the generative AI sector, up 28.0% year-on-year, and 116,000 in the humanoid robot sector, up 9.5%.

Service-related business entities showed strong highlights. The service sector saw 3.957 million new enterprises, consistent with the same period last year. Traditional commercial enterprises grew steadily, with 1.737 million new companies in the wholesale and retail sector, up 2.9% year-on-year. New consumer formats thrived, with the "silver economy" industry adding 31,000 new enterprises, a 16.0% increase, and the cultural tourism industry adding 1.475 million new enterprises, maintaining a rapid growth pace. The number of "famous, special, excellent, and new" individual businesses reached 184,000. High-tech services accelerated their expansion, with 322,000 new enterprises in information transmission and software technology services, up 3.3%, 16,000 in inspection and testing services, up 43.9%, and 459,000 in science and technology achievement transformation services, up 6.8%.

The transformation and upgrading of manufacturing enterprises picked up pace. The equipment manufacturing sector advanced toward high-end, with 28,000 new enterprises in high-end equipment manufacturing, up 2.5% year-on-year. Among them, smart equipment manufacturing grew by 6.4%, and urban rail equipment manufacturing by 4.4%. High-tech manufacturing showed strong growth. By the end of June, the total number of high-tech manufacturing enterprises reached 330,000, with 15,000 newly established in the first half of the year. Among these, the spacecraft and launch vehicle manufacturing sector saw a 185.7% year-on-year increase in new enterprises, fiber and cable manufacturing grew by 129.4%, and integrated circuit manufacturing rose by 24.2%.
