On December 16, 58 consuls from 53 countries stationed in Guangzhou visited the newly operational Terminal 3 (T3) of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Designed with the concept of "Blooming Flower," this modern aviation hub seamlessly blends traditional Lingnan aesthetics with contemporary technological elements, earning widespread praise from the diplomatic delegation and opening new avenues for international aviation cooperation.

The visit followed the 2025 Foreign Consular Corps Meeting in Guangzhou, attended by Mayor Sun Zhiyang and Ebolo Emmanuel, Consul General of the Republic of the Congo in Guangzhou and head of the consular corps. Vice Mayor Hu Hao presided over the event.

Officially opened on October 30 this year, T3 features a roof structure resembling eight unfolding "petals," combining artistic elegance with grandeur. The terminal spans five above-ground and two underground levels, with an annual designed passenger capacity of 30 million. This expansion elevates Baiyun Airport to a "three-terminal, five-runway" mega-hub, boosting annual passenger throughput to 120 million and cargo handling capacity to 3.8 million tons.

During the tour, the consuls explored key highlights such as the "Wheat Ear" skylight, which filters natural light, a Lingnan-style arcade commercial street, high-tech restrooms, and an observation deck offering views of takeoffs and landings. Many expressed admiration for the terminal's design and operational efficiency, pledging to enhance aviation cooperation between their home countries and Guangzhou.

María de los Ángeles Arrieta, Consul General of Argentina in Guangzhou, remarked on T3's cultural appeal, noting how it "marries modernity with tradition in every detail." Jennifer Jakob, Consul at the Canadian Consulate General in Guangzhou, praised the airport's attention to service quality, stating, "A world-class airport excels in delivering consistent excellence in everyday spaces like restrooms and dining areas."

The event not only showcased Guangzhou's aviation infrastructure achievements but also fostered international collaboration. With T3 fully operational, Guangzhou is strengthening its global aviation network, contributing to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a world-class airport cluster.
