PDD Holdings' Billion-Yuan Support Program Boosts Job Creation as Liangshan Entrepreneur Enriches Community Life Through Food Delivery

At 6:30 AM, as Niuuniba Township in Meigu County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, just awakens, Jike Guqian and his colleagues, dressed in red "Duoduo Maimai" work uniforms, are already busy at work. "We have live fish again today, and shrimp too. These need priority delivery," Jike Guqian reminds his delivery colleagues while organizing goods.

Every morning from 6 AM to 10 AM, three to four large trucks arrive at Jike Guqian's Duoduo Maimai station, delivering the freshest vegetables, eggs, seafood, aquatic products, and daily necessities. After intensive sorting, 17 small trucks depart from here to deliver goods to 17 townships in Meigu County, with the farthest being Liuhong Township, approximately 70 kilometers away. By evening, these fresh meats, eggs, and vegetables appear on Meigu County residents' dinner tables. Jike Guqian and his colleagues enrich their neighbors' meals with their own hands, delivering more affordable and nutritious food to everyone. Since the Duoduo Maimai station began operating in 2023, it has never closed.

**Farewell to the Days of Pickled Vegetables and Potatoes**

Meigu County, located in the heartland of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, features rolling mountains and crisscrossing rivers with beautiful scenery, but transportation is extremely inconvenient, making it difficult for outside supplies to reach this paradise-like place. Built along mountainsides, "the most commonly grown crops here are potatoes, corn, and green beans that are suitable for mountain cultivation. Very few vegetables are grown, nowhere near enough to eat," says Jike Guqian. For a long time, pickled vegetables were the most consumed vegetables by Meigu County residents. Every winter during pickle-making season, every household would pickle large quantities, "storing enough for a year, eating them until the following winter. When I was young, one of the most frequently served dishes at home was pickled vegetables stewed with potatoes."

Purchasing fresh items from outside the mountains was also difficult. Jike Guqian explains that in the past, daily necessities, clothes, and shoes had to be bought at markets. The county market opened once every 10 days, and with the mountainous terrain and long distances, a single trip took almost a full day. Back then, families would only go to market about once a month.

Later, as life improved, people didn't need to go to the county town for shopping, but the fresh fruits and seafood available daily remained limited. Items like seafood and durian were not only impossible to buy but rarely even seen. It wasn't until Duoduo Maimai appeared that Meigu County family dining tables underwent revolutionary changes.

"Now everyone just needs to tap their fingers, and they can buy fresh fish, crayfish, and large tiger prawns every day. Oysters, which mountain areas couldn't even dream of before, are now occasionally enjoyed. Various fresh vegetables sell well every day, and many people buy tropical fruits like durian. Eggs go without saying - we can ship out over 10,000 eggs a day from our station. The nutrition children receive now is much better than what we had growing up," Jike Guqian says with a smile.

Meigu County people generally love eating fish, but in the past, getting a taste wasn't easy. Many would fish in rivers, catching only small fish. Now, every year approaching Spring Festival, Jike Guqian's station receives many orders from locals for various fresh fish, "packed in oxygenated bags, still jumping around when delivered." During New Year, almost every household serves a dish of sour soup fish, hoping for abundance year after year.

**Fulfilling Childhood Business Dreams**

Jike Guqian's station development to its current scale actually overcame numerous difficulties. "At first, when we told locals they could buy vegetables on their phones and get various fresh meats, eggs, and vegetables the next day, nobody believed us." For Jike Guqian, who loves challenges and adventures, these difficulties didn't make him retreat but rather excited him, "it felt like business warfare in TV dramas."

Growing up during the era of business war and martial arts dramas, Jike Guqian became fascinated with reading "success studies." Among them, the rise story of Ming Dynasty "richest man" Shen Wansan left a deep impression on him and planted a "business dream" in his young heart. It wasn't until Duoduo Maimai entered Meigu County that he finally found an opportunity to realize his dream.

To persuade locals to try Duoduo Maimai, he first needed to recruit enough "team leaders." Each team leader connects residents within a radius of several hundred meters, not only promoting various discounts and activity information from Duoduo Maimai but also serving as commodity distribution points, supporting resident self-pickup or providing home delivery services.

But how to attract more team leaders? Jike Guqian thought of many methods. In the first six months of opening the station, he and colleagues visited all townships in Meigu County, dealing with countless small store owners, promoting Duoduo Maimai's advantages on-site, hoping to "move them emotionally." For the first batch of team leaders, Jike Guqian would distribute bonuses or physical rewards based on monthly business volume, "incentivizing with profit" to motivate team leaders' enthusiasm. To "create momentum," he printed promotional posters for distribution, hired performance groups to spread Duoduo Maimai awareness, and organized community feasts with cattle and pig slaughtering to build trust with users.

After this three-step "combination approach," more and more people tried Duoduo Maimai, and its reputation for affordable prices and fresh, quality goods spread. Currently, Jike Guqian's station handles approximately 14,000 daily orders, with explosive order volumes during major festivals like Yi New Year. Many locals even order locally grown agricultural products like potatoes and corn on their phones.

**Delivering Vegetables, Bringing Livelihood to Doorsteps**

Duoduo Maimai not only helped Jike Guqian fulfill his "business dream" but also created new earning opportunities through the goods delivery chain, quietly improving many people's lives. To ensure locals can eat fresh fruits and vegetables, Jike Guqian hired 17 employees responsible for goods sorting and delivery across Meigu County's 17 townships, creating employment opportunities for 40-50 people in total. Among them, the driver with the longest delivery route travels 140 kilometers of winding mountain roads daily, becoming one of the county's rare "ten-thousand-yuan monthly earners." "He's quite satisfied with his income," says Jike Guqian.

The dozen or so sorters working inside the station are mostly local mothers. Duoduo Maimai has allowed these "full-time mothers" who once gave up work opportunities due to childcare responsibilities and lacked income sources to regain stable living security and self-worth satisfaction. Twenty-nine-year-old mother Jike Dazi works from around 6 AM to 1 PM, not interfering with accompanying her children while earning over 2,000 yuan monthly, basically covering household daily expenses. "My husband works outside earning money. After I have income, the money he earns can be saved."

Last year, Jike Dazi's family bought a small house in Niuuniba Township for their children's schooling convenience. "This year's goal is to buy a car, making it more convenient to pick up and drop off the children."

Since entering Meigu County, Duoduo Maimai self-pickup team points have become increasingly dense. Now, you can find one every two to three hundred meters in the county town. Each team leader earns several hundred to several thousand yuan in additional monthly income by serving neighbors. Forty-six-year-old Yi ethnic person Axi is one of many team leaders. Of the 14,000 daily orders Jike Guqian sends out, approximately 200 reach her grocery store. After goods arrive, she immediately notifies everyone in her self-built group: "Goods have arrived, everyone please come pick up vegetables when convenient." For dozens of households living on mountains where coming down is inconvenient, Axi rides her electric three-wheeler for home deliveries. "I can earn 1,000-2,000 yuan monthly, which is my largest income source besides running the small store, significantly improving our family's living standards," Axi says with a smile.

**Inclusive Policies for Remote Areas Benefiting Thousands of Families**

In recent years, focusing on high-quality development strategy, PDD Holdings has continuously enhanced its platform capabilities of "great value + good service," promoting inclusive high-quality supply through measures like "billion yuan reductions," "e-commerce westward expansion," and "billion yuan support" with substantial financial investments. To accelerate regional coordinated development and urban-rural integration, since April this year, PDD Holdings has increased subsidies, traffic, and other resource allocation to western remote areas, central and eastern mountainous regions, and key rural revitalization support areas through its "Billion Yuan Support" plan, promoting quality goods and services to "enter, deliver, and be affordable," deepening consumption equality, allowing urban and rural consumers to share in the "inclusive consumption circle."

As PDD Holdings' main platform and grocery business steadily advance in vast county-level rural areas, men, women, and children in small county towns have learned to use PDD Holdings for group buying, finding desired products from fresh produce and general merchandise to electronics and home appliances. PDD Holdings has become an increasingly important lifestyle for border residents, mountain dwellers, and farmers and herders, with residents deep in Daliang Mountains learning to eat oysters and grilled crayfish, occasionally enjoying hot pot.

With platform resource support, Jike Guqian is full of energy and optimistic about the future. According to him, the Niuuniba Duoduo Maimai station was recently built. As locals develop online shopping habits, station orders are increasing, and the previous warehouse is completely insufficient. Jike Guqian has urgently rented a larger space: "Currently we've leveled half the space, and we'll hurry to finish the other half. We want more locals to experience Duoduo Maimai's convenience and affordability, and our station's business will definitely get better and better."
