Shares of Eastroc Beverage (09980) have surged more than 7%. At the time of writing, the stock is up 7.28% to HK$112, with a turnover of HK$72.1221 million.
On the news front, the Nanshan District Public Security Bureau in Shenzhen issued a police notice on June 29 regarding the online rumor that "the founder of Eastroc Beverage does not drink his own company's product." The individual responsible for spreading the rumor has been detained.
This follows the circulation of a purported internal dinner video online. In the footage, someone is seen handing a bottle of Eastroc Beverage's signature drink to the company's Chairman and Founder, Lin Muqin. Lin is shown waving his hand and casually remarking, "I don't usually drink this; I drink something else."
In response, Eastroc Beverage issued a clarification statement via its official WeChat public account on the evening of June 27, asserting that the dinner video was "fabricated without any factual basis." The company stated it had secured evidence and filed a report with the public security authorities.
China Post Securities noted that the ongoing high temperatures are expected to continue boosting public demand for beverages to relieve heat and thirst. Consumer willingness to purchase and the frequency of consumption for soft drinks are anticipated to increase significantly.
Compared to previous years, this year's heatwave cycle is longer and covers a wider area, effectively extending the peak season for soft drink consumption. This is driving sustained release of end-market demand, from which the company is poised to benefit.
