Hohhot Secures 30 Million Yuan in Central Welfare Lottery Funds to Enhance County-Level Senior Care Services

Hohhot has been awarded 30 million yuan from the Central Special Welfare Lottery Public Welfare Fund to support its county-level senior care improvement plan, as confirmed by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Finance.

The project, approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, aims to address key challenges in county-level elderly care, such as uneven resource distribution, weak infrastructure in rural and pastoral areas, and insufficient professional service supply. It represents a national effort to leverage lottery funds to bridge gaps in senior care services and diversify funding sources for the sector.

The Autonomous Region's finance and civil affairs departments prioritized the application process, focusing on enhancing Hohhot's urban-rural three-tier senior care network, upgrading home and community-based care services, and expanding rural care functions. Detailed project plans and construction lists were developed, propelling Hohhot to be selected as a national pilot area, injecting strong momentum into the city's senior care development.

The funds will support the establishment of an innovative county-level senior care service system, covering the renovation and equipment upgrades of care facilities, safety management improvements, caregiver training, basic services like visitation and care for the elderly in pilot areas, and facilitating connections between supply and demand in senior care.

"Next, we will work with the Autonomous Region's civil affairs department to guide Hohhot's finance and civil affairs bureaus in strengthening coordination. We will allocate funds promptly, implement the project plan strictly, and enhance performance management and fund usage oversight throughout the process. This is to ensure the project delivers results quickly, improving the sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security for the elderly, and exploring replicable 'capital city experience' for the high-quality development of senior care services across the region," stated a relevant official from the Autonomous Region Department of Finance.
