Apple CEO Tim Cook has informed employees that he is deeply troubled by the current U.S. approach to immigration and will maintain pressure on lawmakers regarding the issue.

Cook stated during a company-wide meeting held on Thursday that he has heard some employees express unease about going out. He emphasized that no one should have to feel that way.

The Apple leader also highlighted that immigration is particularly important for Apple, as the company has team members across the United States who hold various types of visas.

Cook remarked that for as long as he can remember, Apple has become a smarter, wiser, and more innovative company by attracting the brightest and most talented individuals from around the world. He assured employees that he will continue to lobby lawmakers on the matter.

In an internal memo released last week, Cook addressed immigration issues, expressing that he was heartbroken by an incident in Minneapolis where federal agents shot and killed two U.S. citizens during an immigration enforcement operation.

Cook stated at the time that it was a moment to de-escalate tensions and mentioned that he had discussed the issue with U.S. President Donald Trump.
