According to data released on September 9th by the National Bureau of Statistics, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in China rose 0.4% month-on-month in August, a reversal from the 0.1% decline recorded in the previous month.

On a year-on-year basis, the headline CPI increase accelerated to 0.8%, supported by fluctuations in international market prices and seasonal increases in food costs.

Excluding the volatile food and energy components, the core CPI, a key gauge of underlying inflationary pressures, saw its annual growth rate pick up to 1.0% in August.
