Zelensky Feels Betrayed by Trump, Frustrated Over SpaceX Network Restrictions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed frustration and a sense of betrayal over Donald Trump's diesel deal with Vladimir Putin and U.S. restrictions on Kyiv's military use of satellite terminals.

"Unfortunately, we are losing, we are losing a strong partner, that is my view," Zelensky said in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan in London. "It is painful when President Trump chooses one side, and it is not our side."

After a wave of Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, SpaceX (SPCX) suddenly restricted military use of its satellite internet service, and Ukraine is seeking explanations from the United States and NATO allies.

Zelensky's strong remarks could heighten tensions between the United States and Ukraine. According to a person familiar with the matter, SpaceX (SPCX) limited terminal connections, making it harder for Ukraine to intercept drones and conduct mid-range strikes. The person, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter, said Ukraine's Defense Ministry is in communication with the United States, NATO partners, and SpaceX (SPCX) regarding the Starshield network.

"I am sure they know what they did, absolutely know," Zelensky said in the interview. The full interview is expected to air on the Piers Morgan Uncensored YouTube channel.

Zelensky said restrictions on the Ukrainian military's use of SpaceX (SPCX) terminals have already led to civilian deaths, because Ukrainian interceptor forces using the technology can no longer defend against Russian explosive-laden drones as effectively as before.

Zelensky said on X that Russia used jet-powered drones to attack a grocery store in Lutsk, a city in western Ukraine near the Polish border, killing 6 people and injuring 13.
