The market experienced a consolidation phase today, July 15th, with all three major A-share indices closing in negative territory. The Big Data ETF (516700), which is closely tied to domestic computing power (IDC, servers) and AI application sectors, followed the broader market lower, with its on-market price declining 1.5% and marking a third consecutive daily loss.

Investors appear to be capitalizing on the dip to position in technology sectors at relatively low levels. The Big Data ETF (516700) has seen continuous net inflows over the past three trading sessions, totaling 53.51 million yuan. Extending the view, the fund has attracted a cumulative 97.37 million yuan over the last 60 trading days.

Performance among its 50 constituent stocks was mixed. Shenzhou Taiyue and Tuolusi gained over 3%, while stocks like Bosi Software, Qianfang Technology, and SDIC Intelligence rose more than 2%. On the downside, Talkweb Information fell over 8%, and Dawning Information Industry (Sugon) and Zhongke SuGuang dropped more than 5%, leading the declines and weighing on the index's performance.

International Developments

Overseas, Meta Platforms, Inc. has committed an additional $40 billion to bolster its data center infrastructure. On July 13th, the company announced it is expanding its investment in the Hyperion data center project in Louisiana from $10 billion to $50 billion, aiming to build an AI data center with 5 gigawatts of computing capacity. Analysis suggests that rapid AI technology iteration and accelerating application penetration are driving a surge in computing power demand, fueling large-scale construction of AI data centers.

Domestic Focus

Domestically, the countdown is on for a top-tier AI conference, which is expected to provide a boost to the domestic computing power sector. The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance will be held from July 17th to 20th, featuring a keynote address from top Chinese leadership. Reflecting on last year's conference, China proposed establishing a global AI cooperation mechanism to promote collaboration on computing power infrastructure, open-source ecosystems, security governance, and AI accessibility. Industry insiders note that such high-level conferences can influence how industrial resources are allocated, including decisions on where computing power is built, how domestic chips are supported, the implementation of intelligent agents, and responsibility for AI safety.

Notably, Zhongke SuGuang previously announced the official completion of China's first fully domestically-produced 100,000-card AI supercluster, "Sugon 8000 (Dengfeng)", which has been connected to the National Supercomputing Internet. This marks a transition in AI infrastructure construction from the ten-thousand-card level to the hundred-thousand-card deployment phase.

Research points out that the computing power network has been included as a major national project, representing a core infrastructure direction for the upcoming period. With trillion-level investments gradually being implemented, computing power infrastructure is formally becoming a foundational and strategic facility in the digital economy era, promising sustained policy support. Against the backdrop of restricted supply of overseas high-end chips, the pace of constructing self-reliant intelligent computing centers and computing power hubs continues to accelerate, benefiting the entire industry chain.

Data Security and Technological Self-Reliance

The Big Data ETF (516700) passively tracks the CSI Data Index, which is deeply linked to domestic computing power (IDC, servers) and AI application sectors. It covers the entire data technology process, including big data storage, production, analysis, operation platforms, and application, providing a comprehensive reflection of China's big data industry development. The CSI Data Index encompasses several hot concepts. As of the end of May, the weight of constituent stocks associated with cloud computing, IDC (computing power leasing), computing power, and AI application concepts accounted for 88.41%, 44.80%, 43.97%, and 27.84%, respectively.

It is important to note that the Big Data ETF (516700) tracks the CSI Big Data Industry Index. The index's historical backtested performance does not indicate its future results.
