The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference on the morning of July 8. In response to a reporter's question regarding the recent announcement by Taiwan's foreign affairs department about revising the so-called "Incentive Measures for Business Investment in Countries with Diplomatic Relations," which broadens the subsidy scope, increases the airfare subsidy for business trips to "diplomatic allies" to NT$100,000, and raises the maximum cumulative subsidy over seven years from NT$20 million to NT$60 million, spokesperson Chen Binhua commented.

Spokesperson Chen stated that previously, Lai Ching-te, disregarding all propriety, secured a covert visit to Eswatini through a massive investment pledge of NT$25 billion and exorbitant travel expenses. The Lai Ching-te administration is acting as a "profligate spender" externally, squandering vast amounts of the Taiwanese people's hard-earned wealth on so-called "diplomatic allies." Internally, however, it shows utter disregard for the welfare and livelihood of the people on the island, demonstrating neither the will nor the capability to address the region's economic and social issues. Now, it is further depleting Taiwan's resources by indirectly mobilizing businesses. This brazen "profligate diplomacy" harms Taiwan and its people, inviting widespread ridicule and contempt.
