A2Gold Corp. announced on June 3 that its surface channel sampling program at the Blackrock target, located at the southern end of the Castle Zone within the Eastside gold-silver project in Esmeralda County, Nevada, has returned high-grade gold and silver assay results, confirming the presence of high-grade precious metal mineralization at surface.

The sampling results show the highest-grade sample assayed 10.50 grams per tonne gold and 33.6 g/t silver, sourced from banded quartz veins within Paleozoic bedrock. Another high-grade sample returned 5.63 g/t gold and 68.7 g/t silver. Additionally, a sample returned 0.59 g/t gold and 74.6 g/t silver.

The sampling program identified typical epithermal quartz vein textures, including banded to massive quartz veins and quartz after calcite blade textures, which are commonly associated with productive low-sulfidation epithermal systems.

A2Gold CEO Peter Gianulis stated, "The Blackrock sampling results are very encouraging, as high-grade gold and silver mineralization has been identified at surface in the Castle Zone, including results up to 10.5 g/t gold and 74.7 g/t silver. These results reinforce our view that Eastside is not only a large gold-silver system but a district with multiple opportunities to identify high-grade zones within its overall mineralized footprint."

To date, historical drilling in the Castle Zone has primarily focused on broad zones of gold-silver mineralization hosted within volcanic rocks. The discovery at Blackrock indicates the presence of additional mineralization styles associated with deeper, basement-hosted vein structures, representing a new exploration opportunity.

Significantly, the mineralized quartz veins identified at Blackrock are hosted within Paleozoic bedrock. This represents a potentially important exploration breakthrough, complementing the volcanic-hosted mineralization historically drilled at Castle.

The company is currently conducting a 2,500-meter diamond core drilling program consisting of seven holes. It is designed to evaluate the extent of known volcanic-hosted mineralization in the Castle Zone while also testing the potential of basement-hosted, high-grade vein targets. The Castle Zone currently hosts an inferred resource of 314,000 ounces of gold at an average grade of 0.49 g/t gold. This resource estimate does not include any resources from the Blackrock target area, nor does it include any silver resources.
