United Kingdom Ranks Third in Global Bitcoin Adoption, 60,000 Seized Coins Cannot Be Used as Reserves

According to data from Woofun AI, the United Kingdom ranks third globally in Bitcoin adoption, yet its 60,000 BTC held through seizures cannot be converted into national reserve assets due to a court ruling, creating a stark contrast between its high ranking and asset disposal challenges.

This ranking is based on the B20 Country Assessment from the JAN3 Bitcoin Index released in 2025, with core criteria including policy advancement efforts and over 60,000 BTC seized by law enforcement agencies. However, these assets are legally classified as stolen criminal property subject to court proceedings, not sovereign wealth.

Data compiled by Woofun AI shows that the index evaluates multiple factors such as regulation, market access, and law enforcement seizures, resulting in the UK achieving a composite score of 6.44 points. The U.S. Treasury clearly responded in March 2026 that the central government holds no cryptocurrency assets.

This indicates that while the UK possesses a significant amount of BTC through enforcement actions, its outdated official foreign exchange reserve policies operate in a completely different category from these seized assets, preventing their inclusion on the national balance sheet.
