Global Humanoid Robot Games Kick Off with Record-Breaking Performances

The second World Humanoid Robot Games officially opened on the evening of August 22nd, drawing competitors from across the globe. A total of 666 teams representing 16 countries on six continents have brought 2,056 robots to compete in 51 events over the next five days.

During the opening ceremony, the preliminary 100-meter dash heat delivered a stunning highlight. A robot from the Tianzhuo team clocked an incredible 9.39 seconds, shattering the human world record of 9.58 seconds in the event. This marks a dramatic leap from last year's inaugural games, where the best 100-meter time was a mere 21.50 seconds.

The high jump demonstration also saw history made. Beijing's Tiangong Ultra robot cleared an impressive 2.8843 meters, surpassing the human record and vastly improving upon the 95.641-centimeter championship height from the previous year. Organizers noted that many competitive events this year have eliminated manual remote control, requiring robots to operate fully autonomously and testing their advanced perception and independent decision-making capabilities through onboard large models.

A spectacular parade of humanoid robots during the athletes' entrance ceremony brought the atmosphere to a fever pitch. An 80-strong formation of Accelerated Evolution Booster T2 robots marched in perfect synchronization, with each unit independently calculating its path and adjusting its posture in real time. The formation even shifted dynamically during the march to spell out "BEIJING."

Following them, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center's contingent featured 50 Tiangong Embodied Intelligence 3.0 robots that autonomously navigated a curve in tight formation. These robots demonstrated remarkable agility, flawlessly executing complex maneuvers like a "Thomas Flair." Meanwhile, 25 wheeled Galbot G1 robots from Galaxy General formed a steel phalanx, taking on fully autonomous, long-horizon, and complex sequential tasks across simulated household, retail, and dining scenarios. The team also showcased a new dexterous hand world model, achieving the world's first autonomous pen-spinning and other generalized in-hand dexterous manipulations.
