On September 21, the People's Bank of China convened a symposium with foreign financial institutions to gather their input and suggestions, focusing on enhancing the business environment and advancing high-level opening-up in the financial sector. Governor Pan Gongsheng attended and delivered remarks at the meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Governor Xuan Changneng. Deputy Governor Zou Lan, along with Xu Zhibin and Li Bin from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, were also present.

During the symposium, Pan Gongsheng provided an overview of China's current economic and financial conditions, as well as the implementation of monetary policy. He listened to the institutions' feedback and responded to their concerns. Pan emphasized that China's economy is operating with overall stability and a positive trajectory, with continued structural improvements and steady progress in high-quality development. He stated that the People's Bank of China will diligently implement the decisions and plans of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, maintaining a moderately loose monetary policy to foster a supportive monetary and financial environment for stable economic growth and orderly market operations. He further pledged to advance financial opening-up, refine policy frameworks, steadily broaden two-way market access, optimize cross-border payment services, and facilitate the international use of the renminbi.

The participating foreign financial institutions acknowledged the tangible progress made this year in deepening financial sector reforms, improving the business climate, and easing renminbi internationalization. They expressed a desire for continued policy enhancements and stronger communication with the market. Representatives from 15 foreign financial institutions attended and spoke at the meeting, including Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Deutsche Bank, DBS Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Bank Mandiri, BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, UBS Securities, Manulife Financial, Brookfield Asset Management, and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Officials from relevant departments and affiliated units of the People's Bank of China and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange also participated in the discussions.
