Strategy Liquidates 1,690 Bitcoin and Raises $653 Million via Stock Issuance

Bitcoin holding company Strategy disclosed on Monday that it sold 1,690 bitcoins last week, generating $108.6 million, while also raising $653.1 million through the issuance of 6.59 million shares of common stock. The company used the proceeds from the bitcoin sale to repurchase 1,152,020 shares of its floating-rate preferred stock, STRC, at a cost of $108.6 million. The average selling price of the bitcoins, after deducting fees and expenses, was $64,262 per coin.

Following this sale, Strategy's bitcoin holdings decreased to 840,447 coins, with a total acquisition cost of $63.36 billion and an average purchase price of approximately $75,385 per coin.

Strategy allocated $650 million from the common stock sale proceeds to its U.S. dollar reserve, which increased to $4.65 billion as of August 9, and the remaining approximately $3.1 million was added to the company's cash balance. After completing the latest transactions, Strategy has approximately $785.2 million remaining under its preferred stock repurchase program and $1 billion remaining under its MSTR common stock repurchase program. In pre-market trading on Monday, both MSTR and STRC shares rose 0.5%, while bitcoin was trading near $65,000.
