Recently, the inaugural Bazhou City Primary and Secondary School Science and Technology Festival was held, showcasing the educational reform achievements since the city was designated as a "Hebei Province Primary and Secondary School Science Experimental Zone."
The city has established a new "1+4+5" science education model, using science education to drive the overall quality improvement of regional education. In 2024, students from Bazhou won 5 national honors and 43 provincial honors in the National Primary and Secondary School Information Technology Innovation and Practice Competition; in 2025, they secured another 35 provincial honors, with 44 award-winning works in earth sciences, demonstrating a continuous enhancement of scientific and technological innovation capabilities.
Bazhou City has identified science education as a key breakthrough point for regional education reform, promoting a comprehensive transition from "knowledge transmission" to "literacy cultivation." To achieve the sustained nurturing of scientific literacy, Bazhou has moved the starting point of science education forward to the preschool stage. At the primary school level, school-wide science and technology competitions, such as the "Carrot Tower" challenge, are regularly conducted. Project-based learning (PBL) is the core focus at the junior high school level. The senior high school stage concentrates on elevating innovation capabilities by establishing high-end practical platforms through school-local government collaboration.
In terms of curriculum development, a new "One Body, Two Wings" structure has been created, with simultaneous upgrades to classroom teaching, making "literacy orientation" the central goal. To broaden the boundaries of science education, Bazhou is focused on building diverse practical platforms that link campuses with the broader society. Currently, all 146 primary and secondary schools in the city have achieved full coverage of the "Science Vice Principal" position. A series of science and technology activities run throughout the year, fostering a strong atmosphere of scientific innovation.
In the next step, Bazhou City will continue to use the construction of the provincial science experimental zone as an engine to further ignite students' scientific dreams and deepen the pathways for regional education quality enhancement.
