DIAGENS-B (HKG: 02526) officially unveiled the "PolyU-DIAGENS Joint Laboratory for General Artificial Intelligence and Medical Applications" with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on September 2. The partnership aims to drive long-term research in medical imaging analysis, foundational medical large model development, and automation of medical R&D workflows.

The collaboration is designed to accelerate the translation of AI for Science in the healthcare sector, bridging research breakthroughs with innovation networks across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and globally. PolyU's artificial intelligence discipline ranks 16th worldwide and first in Hong Kong, according to the 2025 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).

The decision by this top-tier institution to partner closely with DIAGENS-B underscores the market's strong recognition of the company's rare expertise in medical imaging foundation models. The joint lab will combine PolyU's strengths in original AI and data science research with DIAGENS-B's capabilities in industrial deployment, creating an end-to-end pipeline from basic research and technology development to clinical application. It will also foster interdisciplinary talent training and accelerate the journey of frontier technology into real-world medical settings.

Artificial intelligence is shifting from a supporting tool to an integral part of scientific discovery and knowledge generation, marking a new phase for medical AI. Dr. Song Ning, Chairman and CEO of DIAGENS-B, stated that AI for Science is reshaping the global medical AI landscape. The company has already completed a key technological transition from "single-disease, single-model" to a "unified foundation with industrialized batch training." Through the joint laboratory, the company aims to turn real clinical challenges into systematic research outputs, pushing the medical AI industry beyond large model development and into a new era driven by AI-powered scientific research.

DIAGENS-B has established a comprehensive technology stack, including the iMedImage® foundation model for medical imaging, the iMedStudio™ intelligent annotation platform, and the iMedMaaS® platform for training and deploying specialized models. As of the first half of 2026, the company has partnered with 99 hospitals, deploying 158 specialized AI models across 43 human organs and 61 disease areas. These results validate the feasibility of reusing a unified foundation model to mass-produce specialized solutions.

With continued iteration of large model technology, medical AI is expanding beyond single-point diagnostic assistance into broader applications such as imaging interpretation, medical research, and clinical decision support. The establishment of the joint laboratory reinforces DIAGENS-B's research foundation for its AI4S model factory, supporting both commercial growth and next-generation technology development. As the Stock Connect southbound trading takes effect on September 7 and with expectations of inclusion in indices such as the Hang Seng Biotechnology Index and the Hang Seng Stock Connect AI Theme Index, the company continues to strengthen its dual focus on academic-industry collaboration and capital market expansion.
