Johnson Elec H (00179) announced on July 16, 2025, that its fully owned subsidiary, Johnson Electric Automotive Limited, has signed two joint venture agreements with Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical Industry Co., Ltd. to form complementary equity joint ventures focused on humanoid robotics. The first venture, registered in Shanghai, will spearhead sales, business development, research and development, application engineering, and customer support for humanoid robot solutions across China. Johnson Elec holds a 49% stake in this entity, while Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical controls 51%. The second joint venture, based in Shenzhen, will serve as a dedicated center for engineering design, R&D, and manufacturing of humanoid robot hardware modules and integration systems, with Johnson Elec owning 51% and Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical retaining 49%. Each joint venture boasts a registered capital of RMB 75 million. Johnson Elec will inject RMB 36.75 million into the Shanghai venture and RMB 38.25 million into the Shenzhen venture, totaling RMB 75 million for the group. Conversely, Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical will fund RMB 38.25 million for Shanghai and RMB 36.75 million for Shenzhen. This synergistic setup merges robust sales and client support capabilities with cutting-edge engineering and manufacturing prowess, enabling seamless end-to-end delivery of high-performance humanoid robot components and subsystems nationwide. Strategically, this initiative marks a pivotal step in Johnson Elec's expansion into the rapidly accelerating humanoid robotics market. The joint ventures will concentrate on innovation, commercialization, and assembly to address burgeoning demand for advanced robotic solutions in commercial, industrial, and consumer sectors.
