On August 22 and 23, the 2026 Henan Province Vocational Skills Competition, specifically the provincial selection for the 4th National AI Application Technology Skills Contest (UAV Assembly and Maintenance category), took place at Hebi Technician College. A total of 73 contestants from 14 delegations across the province competed head-to-head, showcasing a high-level technical contest in UAV assembly and maintenance.

The event was co-hosted by the Henan Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and the Henan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions. It featured six categories: instrument manufacturing, industrial vision system operations, generative AI system applications, industrial robot system operations, intelligent hardware assembly, and UAV assembly and maintenance. Each category was divided into professional and student groups. The UAV assembly and maintenance segment was organized by the Hebi Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, with support from Hebi Technician College.

On August 21, the 73 contestants and 10 judges from across the province completed their registration and competition preparations. The professional group kicked off the intense competition on August 22, completing seven tasks across three groups, including diagnosing and fixing typical aircraft faults, debugging flight platforms, installing and adjusting intelligent components pre-flight, programming and integrating intelligent functions, conducting full system integration and simulation tests, and performing real-world intelligent operations. On August 23, the student group took the stage, completing hands-on tasks in two groups.

At the competition, participants displayed complete focus and composure, tackling everything from fault diagnosis and resolution to flight platform tuning, from intelligent component installation to function programming and integration, and from overall system coordination to real-world smart operations. Every step tested their comprehensive skills, fully highlighting the expertise and craftsmanship of modern technical talent.

The event also drew nearly 20 representatives from private vocational training institutions, vocational colleges, and enterprises in Hebi City to observe the proceedings. Clear career advancement paths were offered to winners of the first, second, and third prizes. Top five finishers in each category and group will be promoted to technician-level vocational qualifications as per regulations, while those ranking 6th to 20th will advance to senior worker-level qualifications.

"The low-altitude economy has become a key emerging national industry, and Hebi City places significant emphasis on its growth, incorporating it into forward-looking future industry planning and accelerating the construction of a low-altitude economy demonstration city," said the event coordinator at Hebi Technician College. "We will use this competition as a springboard to deepen industry-education integration, translate competition standards into teaching resources, and supply more high-caliber technical talent to support the low-altitude economy in Hebi and across the province."
