Recently, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Chairman Liao Lin held a meeting with Deputy Governor of the Bank of Mexico, Jonathan Heath.

The discussions centered on the global macroeconomic and financial landscape, financial services supporting trade and economic exchanges between China and Mexico, deepening bilateral cooperation, and the internationalization of the Chinese renminbi.

Currently, ICBC has established five institutions in Latin American countries, with its cross-border financial service capabilities in the region continuously improving. In 2024, it became the first bank in Mexico to obtain direct participant status in China's Cross-border Interbank Payment System (CIPS), with services covering major currencies including the Mexican peso, renminbi, and US dollar.

ICBC will continue to leverage its strengths in renminbi and clearing services, actively expand the usage scenarios for renminbi in Mexico, refine high-quality financial services that are efficient, secure, and convenient, and offer comprehensive financial solutions. It aims to serve enterprises from both nations with its global capabilities, thereby facilitating Sino-Mexican trade and financial exchanges and contributing to the high-quality joint construction of a China-Latin America community with a shared future.
