Alphabet has announced that its upcoming Pixel 10 series will comprehensively adopt the faster UFS 4.0 storage technology, marking a significant upgrade from the UFS 3.1 standard that has been used since the Pixel 6 series launched in 2021. The Pro models will additionally feature the new "Zoned UFS" technology.

According to Alphabet's announcement, this storage upgrade will work in conjunction with the next-generation Tensor G5 chip to deliver enhanced performance for users. The UFS 4.0 technology brings substantial improvements in read and write performance compared to the previous generation.

The performance enhancements are notable: read speeds increase dramatically from UFS 3.1's 2,100 MB/s to 4,200 MB/s, while write speeds jump from 1,200 MB/s to 2,800 MB/s. Additionally, energy efficiency has been significantly improved.

The Pixel 10 Pro series, which includes the Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold models, will incorporate "Zoned UFS" technology in configurations with 512GB or higher storage capacity. Alphabet has not yet provided detailed explanations about the specific implementation and functionality of this technology, stating that further clarification will be provided subsequently.

While the upgrade to UFS 4.0 may not result in immediately noticeable dramatic changes for average users, the faster storage speeds will contribute to improved overall system fluidity and response efficiency in practical usage, as virtually all device operations involve data reading or writing processes.
