Renaissance Technologies Initiates Position in Apple, Boosts NVIDIA Holding, Exits Amazon in Q1

According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Renaissance Technologies has disclosed its first-quarter (Q1) portfolio holdings (13F) as of March 31, 2026.

The firm's total portfolio value for Q1 was $63.9 billion, a decrease of approximately 1% from the previous quarter's $64.5 billion. During the quarter, Renaissance Technologies added 625 new positions, increased its holdings in 1,319 stocks, reduced its stake in 1,262 stocks, and liquidated 597 positions. The top ten holdings accounted for 11.2% of the total portfolio value.

The top five holdings were as follows: United Therapeutics Corporation (UTHR.US) ranked first, with approximately 1.787 million shares valued at about $1.06 billion, representing 1.66% of the portfolio. Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR.US) was second, with about 6.9859 million shares valued at roughly $1.022 billion, or 1.60% of the portfolio. Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) held the third position, with approximately 3.0756 million shares worth about $781 million, accounting for 1.22% of the portfolio. Kinross Gold Corporation (KGC.US) was fourth, with about 25.5464 million shares valued at approximately $780 million, also representing 1.22% of the portfolio. Micron Technology, Inc. (MU.US) rounded out the top five, with around 2.163 million shares valued at about $731 million, or 1.14% of the portfolio.

The filing indicates that Renaissance Technologies initiated a new position in Apple Inc., completely exited its stake in Amazon.com, Inc., and increased its holdings in NVIDIA Corporation during the first quarter. The firm also significantly reduced its stake in Netflix, Inc. from 7.18 million shares to just 2,500 shares. It trimmed its holdings in Palantir Technologies Inc. from 8.8 million shares to 6.99 million shares and reduced its Micron Technology, Inc. position from 3.01 million shares to 2.163 million shares.

Based on the changes in portfolio weighting, the top five buys for the quarter were: Apple Inc., NVIDIA Corporation, Linde plc (LIN.US), Broadcom Inc., and JPMorgan Chase & Co. The top five sells were: Netflix, Inc., Costco Wholesale Corporation, Tesla Motors, Palantir Technologies Inc., and The Procter & Gamble Company.
