Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. (DKS) experienced a significant pre-market plunge of 5.66% on Wednesday, following the release of its first-quarter financial results and updated guidance.
The company reported strong first-quarter performance with earnings per share of USD 3.54, net income of USD 320 million, and sales of USD 5,165 million that exceeded the IBES estimate of USD 5,087 million. Additionally, Dick's Sporting Goods raised the low end of its 2026 comparable sales outlook for both its Dick's and Foot Locker businesses.
Despite these positive results, the stock declined sharply in pre-market trading after the company cut its annual profit forecast. This downward revision in profit expectations appears to have outweighed investor optimism about the company's current quarter performance and sales outlook, leading to the significant pre-market sell-off.
