Anthropic Pursues Record-Breaking IPO, Roadshow Seeks to Calm Investor Nerves

Anthropic is actively engaging with potential investors in a series of meetings to build confidence in its upcoming initial public offering, which is anticipated to be the largest in global history. The company is assuring investors of sustained high growth and is rolling out initiatives to address rising public concerns about artificial intelligence.

With a valuation of $965 billion, the AI giant now faces several new challenges that are prompting investors to scrutinize its business more carefully. These include tensions with the Trump administration and widespread local opposition to data center construction across the United States. According to sources familiar with the pre-IPO roadshow, investors have been pressing Anthropic's management in recent weeks about the potential impact of these issues on the company's growth.

Such inquiries reflect significant market uncertainty about which company will ultimately win the AI race and whether the firms underpinning the entire industry can maintain financial stability. Anthropic has emerged as a frontrunner this year, driven by the strong performance of its popular coding tool, ClaudeCode. However, within Silicon Valley, skepticism is growing, with many executives concerned that the company is gaining too much control over the AI ecosystem.

The pricing and post-IPO performance of Anthropic's shares will serve as a benchmark for valuing leading AI companies. The vast majority of the trillions of dollars in global AI capital expenditure has been allocated to computing power, all based on the expectation of relentless growth in AI demand.

Insiders say Anthropic plans to go public in September or early October. Its main rival, OpenAI, is expected to list as late as next year. During the roadshow, Anthropic has indicated to some investors that it will aggressively expand into AI applications for healthcare and biology, a move it believes could help alleviate negative public perceptions of AI.

The company has not yet disclosed the exact offering price or timeline. This massive IPO from Anthropic coincides with a surge in mega-deals. Earlier this year, Elon Musk's SpaceX went public, reaching a market capitalization above $2 trillion during the trading day. While some optimistic analysts and investors predict Anthropic's valuation could exceed that level, the sharp decline in SpaceX's stock price after its first-day surge has served as a warning about the high volatility risk when companies transition from private to public markets.

The earlier breakout success of ClaudeCode helped Anthropic pull ahead of competitors. In May, the company disclosed that its annualized revenue had surpassed $47 billion. In recent weeks, Anthropic has finalized several large-scale computing power purchase agreements with partners including SpaceX and Google. User data shows demand for ClaudeCode and the company's other tools remains strong, though the platform has experienced intermittent service outages this year.
