Shares of Mosaic (NYSE: MOS), a leading producer of concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients, soared 5.46% in pre-market trading on Wednesday following the company's impressive third-quarter 2025 financial results. The strong performance, coupled with a positive outlook for fertilizer demand, has reignited investor enthusiasm for the stock.
Mosaic reported adjusted earnings of $1.04 per share for the quarter ended September 30, significantly outperforming the analyst consensus estimate of $0.98. This represents a substantial 205.88% increase compared to earnings of $0.34 per share in the same period last year. While the company's quarterly revenue of $3.45 billion fell short of analyst expectations of $3.78 billion, it still marked a 22.80% increase over the prior-year quarter.
The strong performance was driven by robust results across Mosaic's business segments. The phosphate segment generated net revenues of $1.3 billion, while the potash segment recorded net revenues of $695 million. Mosaic Fertilizantes contributed $1.6 billion in net revenues. The company highlighted that fertilizer markets remain balanced to tight, supporting pricing, and it expects Canpotex to set a shipment record this year on strong demand in its geographies. Additionally, Mosaic anticipates near-record potash production in 2025 and is investing to support distribution growth in 2026, signaling positive future prospects that likely contributed to the stock's pre-market rally.
