AI Optimism Crumbles? A Leveraged SK Hynix Fund Plunges 27%, Down Nearly 80% From Its Peak

The decline in Hong Kong-listed memory chip concept stocks has deepened significantly.

Specifically, the Southern 2x Long SK Hynix ETF has dropped over 27%, retreating nearly 80% from its late June high. The Southern 2x Long Samsung Electronics ETF has fallen more than 25%, down 74% from its June peak. Meanwhile, Gigadevice Semiconductor Inc. has slumped over 15%, losing 53% from its June high.

On the news front, the South Korean stock market is experiencing a sharp sell-off, dragged down by domestic memory chip giants. Investor sentiment regarding the artificial intelligence boom continues to deteriorate. The KOSPI index has plunged more than 10%, hitting a new low since mid-April and retreating 35% from its June peak.

Among individual stocks, SK hynix has fallen over 13%, and Samsung Electronics has dropped more than 12%.
