Global markets experienced sudden shifts during the evening session. Assets such as gold, silver, and crude oil underwent significant volatility. Spot gold and silver prices both saw abrupt declines during trading hours, followed by sharp V-shaped recoveries.

In the oil market, Brent crude also dropped during the session, falling to as low as $81.5 per barrel before partially rebounding by the time of reporting.

European stock markets showed strength as major indices in the UK, France, and Germany opened lower but then rallied sharply.

Market movements appeared to be influenced by developments in the Middle East. According to reports from multiple Iranian media outlets on the 5th, citing an Iranian military official, Iran has not closed the Strait of Hormuz. The official stated that Iran treats transiting vessels in accordance with international agreements and only intercepts warships disguised as commercial ships.

Iranian media further reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that during wartime, Iran has the right to control passage and navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, prohibiting access to vessels from the United States, Israel, and European countries.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps emphasized that military and commercial ships belonging to the US, Israel, European nations, and their supporters are banned from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any such vessels detected by Iranian forces would be targeted.

Additionally, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that its naval aircraft struck a US oil tanker in the northern Persian Gulf early that morning, stating that the vessel was on fire.

In a separate development, Israeli Transportation Minister Miri Regev announced that Israel is preparing to reopen its airspace on the 8th, allowing outbound flights to resume. Regev indicated that after assessments, the decision was made to permit departures starting Sunday, though specific arrangements would depend on evolving security conditions, with updates to be provided throughout the day.
