A specialized training session on intellectual property education for employees, jointly organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Workers' Science and Technology Activity Center and the Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Protection Center, recently took place in Pei County. The event was designed to tackle common challenges faced by frontline workers in innovation, such as hesitancy to file patent applications, difficulties in drafting documentation, and a lack of knowledge on how to protect their creations.

The training was structured into four specific sessions targeting different sectors: the State Grid Pei County Power Supply Company, the communications and data industry, the textile industry, and the foundry industry. Experts tailored their instruction to the practical realities of frontline innovation, covering topics like the fundamentals of innovation and intellectual property protection, transforming a creative idea into a patent application, and managing intellectual property risks alongside the commercialization of results. Through a combination of policy explanations, case analysis, and interactive engagement, participants received systematic guidance on patent mining and writing, identifying intellectual property risks, and applying innovative outcomes, thereby equipping them with the skills to convert their workplace innovations into tangible patents.

"In our daily efforts to promote employee-driven innovation and small-scale improvements, many frontline workers have great ideas but often lack the awareness to protect their intellectual property. Today's session has given me a fresh perspective on the patent application process," said Xu Shouwen, a union official at State Grid Pei County Power Supply Company. He added that he plans to share this intellectual property knowledge with more colleagues, helping them safeguard their innovations and foster a culture of creativity in their roles.

During the Q&A segment, participating workers raised questions about patent applications, ownership of results, infringement risks, and the commercialization of innovations, with experts offering detailed responses and tailored recommendations for each inquiry. A representative from the county's general union indicated that the next step will involve expanding the "delivering education to the doorstep" initiative, promoting intellectual property awareness in enterprises, within teams, and on the workshop floor, ultimately injecting fresh momentum into the development of the county's industrial workforce and the high-quality growth of local businesses.
