Residents of Shouning Lane 50 in Canglang Subdistrict, Gusu District, Suzhou, were pleasantly surprised to find their previously cluttered and underutilized activity room transformed into a vibrant recreational hub. Equipped with new ping-pong tables, anti-slip flooring, and seating, the space has become a popular spot for fitness and leisure.

This transformation stemmed from a collaborative effort by the community, property management, and homeowners' association to address residents' needs. Initial feedback revealed that the activity room had been largely idle, cluttered with unused items. Through door-to-door visits and online surveys, the team identified strong demand for ping-pong facilities.

Leveraging local connections, the homeowners' association engaged a resident with renovation expertise, who volunteered to redesign the space. Over a month, the community held joint meetings to finalize improvements, including installing anti-slip flooring and creating a dedicated ping-pong zone. Since its reopening, the facility averages over 10 daily users.

To ensure sustainability, the property management and homeowners' association established usage guidelines, with maintenance and registration handled by the property team.

"The shift from 'wasted space' to 'community asset' reflects our commitment to serving residents," said Cai Weijuan, the community Party secretary. By fostering collaboration among stakeholders, the initiative has enhanced residents' satisfaction and belonging. Moving forward, the community aims to further address diverse needs, enriching quality of life.
