Republican Senator Thom Tillis stated that he will continue to oppose the confirmation of any nominee for the Federal Reserve Board until the Justice Department's investigation into current Fed Chair Jerome Powell is resolved.

Tillis posted on the X platform that Kevin Warsh is a qualified nominee with a deep understanding of monetary policy.

"However, the Justice Department continues to pursue a criminal investigation into Chairman Jerome Powell based on committee testimony that no reasonable person could interpret as demonstrating criminal intent."

"Protecting the Federal Reserve's independence from political interference or legal coercion is a non-negotiable principle."
