Just one week after the Chongqing tour of European advanced manufacturing enterprises concluded, the mountainous city welcomed another wave of industrial investment. On November 25, the 2025 China Industrial Transfer and Development Matchmaking Event (Chongqing), themed "Smart Chain Ecology, Meet the Future in Chongqing," saw the signing of 159 key projects with a total contract value exceeding 110 billion yuan. These projects span sectors such as intelligent connected new energy vehicles (NEVs), high-end equipment manufacturing, and the digital economy, injecting fresh momentum into Chongqing's industrial upgrade.

This national-level industrial event exemplifies Chongqing's implementation of the East-West collaboration strategy, marking a pivotal step in its transition from a "manufacturing hub" to a "manufacturing and quality powerhouse." It also serves as a model for western inland regions in undertaking industrial transfer and building a modern industrial system.

**Precision Undertaking and Chain Integration Activate New Industrial Momentum** Promoting orderly industrial transfer is a key national strategy for regional coordinated development and optimizing productivity distribution. The matchmaking event serves as an effective platform to execute this strategy. At the Chongqing Yuelai International Conference Center, five thematic sessions—intelligent connected NEVs, next-generation electronics, advanced materials, port industrial parks, and talent cultivation—were held simultaneously, targeting Chongqing's priority industrial sectors.

Local officials, including representatives from Liangjiang New Area, Shapingba District, and Tongliang District, showcased Chongqing's pro-business policies and services. SERES and other industry leaders pledged to collaborate on building an open and integrated ecosystem for NEVs. In next-generation electronics, embodied intelligence (EI) took center stage, with several high-tech projects secured to accelerate EI applications in automotive manufacturing, public services, and industrial production.

The talent session attracted over 100 professionals, with 60% reaching preliminary employment or collaboration agreements with Chongqing-based firms. Nine key laboratories, including the Embodied Intelligence Lab at Chongqing University, were inaugurated to drive innovation. Notable signed projects include a 52-billion-yuan automotive photoelectric module and MicroLED display manufacturing initiative.

**From Fragmented to Clustered Growth** Industrial transfer is not merely about relocation but involves systemic upgrades across industrial, innovation, and ecological chains. "Chongqing’s robust manufacturing ecosystem and cluster advantages offer shared dividends for all partners," stated Wang Zhijie, Director of Chongqing’s Economic and Information Commission.

Automaker SERES exemplifies this synergy, with 43% of its suppliers based in Southwest China, forming a core ecosystem. Chongqing now hosts 600+ auto parts firms and 200+ software companies, achieving full coverage of 56 key NEV components. The city’s "33618" modern manufacturing cluster strategy addresses gaps like semiconductor shortages through projects such as Western (Chongqing) Science City’s integrated chip industry chain.

**Why Eastern Industries Choose Chongqing** "Chongqing’s strong industrial base, talent pool, and growth potential make it ideal for expansion," noted Xie Yuansheng, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology. Jiangsu Hoshen New Energy’s success in Tongliang District—achieving full-capacity production within months—highlights Chongqing’s efficient governance and supply-chain readiness.

As China’s leading logistics hub with multimodal transport links, Chongqing offers cost-effective global connectivity via the Yangtze River and China-Europe freight trains. Recent investments from Suzhou’s Ligand Semiconductor and Shenzhen’s FRD further cement its role as the preferred gateway for East-West industrial collaboration.

With its "416" sci-tech innovation framework and rising R&D prowess (ranked 7th nationally in 2024), Chongqing is poised to drive regional coordination and modern industrial體系建設, turning industrial transfer into a catalyst for high-quality development.
