Honeywell has secured a contract to provide its liquefaction technology and equipment for two new production trains at NextDecade's Rio Grande LNG project in Texas.

The agreement, signed with engineering, procurement, and construction contractor Bechtel Energy, covers Trains 4 and 5 located in Brownsville.

Honeywell will supply its spiral-wound heat exchanger equipment and C3MR liquefaction process technology, which is designed to optimize production, enhance reliability, and reduce operating costs.

The company's technology is already utilized in the project's first three liquefaction trains.

The addition of these two trains is expected to increase Rio Grande LNG's total liquefaction capacity by more than 66%, from 18 million tonnes per annum to 30 million tonnes per annum.

All five trains are projected to be operational by mid-2031.

Christina Anderson, President of Honeywell's Gas and LNG business, added: "As energy demand grows, liquefied natural gas will continue to play a vital role in meeting this demand and supporting global energy security. Honeywell's scalable, customizable technology helps producers optimize facility performance and efficiency, and we work closely with clients to deliver solutions that meet their respective objectives."
