ZIJIN GOLD INTL shares soared 7.52% in intraday trading on Thursday, extending a strong rally as gold prices remained firmly above the $4,100 per ounce level, fueling broad-based gains across the sector.
The gold sector saw widespread strength, with peers like LINGBAO GOLD, ZHAOJIN MINING, and SD GOLD also posting significant gains. The rally reflects investor confidence in sustained gold price strength, which directly benefits mining companies' margins and valuations.
Additionally, the company recently terminated its approximately CA$5.5 billion full acquisition of Allied Gold Corporation after the deal failed to close by its deadline. Instead, ZIJIN GOLD INTL agreed to subscribe for a 9.2% stake in Allied Gold at a much lower capital commitment of CA$416.6 million. The market has reacted positively to this strategic pivot, viewing it as a move that secures quality overseas gold assets while reducing execution risk and preserving capital.
