HUANENG POWER (00902) has announced its operational results for the first half of 2026.

In the second quarter, the company's power plants within China, on a consolidated basis, supplied 98.09 billion kilowatt-hours of on-grid electricity, representing a year-on-year decrease of 0.97%.

For the entire first half of the year, the total on-grid electricity volume from its Chinese operations reached 199.578 billion kilowatt-hours, marking a decline of 2.97% compared to the same period last year.

The average on-grid settlement price for the first half was RMB 463.02 per megawatt-hour, a decrease of 4.58% year-on-year.

The company attributed the reduction in power generation primarily to its ongoing transition towards green and low-carbon energy. While installed capacity for wind and photovoltaic power continues to grow, the overall expansion of new energy capacity nationwide has reduced the operating hours for existing conventional power units.

Additionally, the decreasing share of coal-fired power capacity in the company's portfolio contributed to the overall decline in electricity output.

Regarding its international operations, the wholly-owned subsidiary Tuas Power Limited in Singapore held an 18.3% market share in power generation during Q2 2026, down 0.2 percentage points year-on-year.

For the first half, its Singaporean subsidiary's market share was also 18.3%, reflecting a decrease of 0.3 percentage points.

Furthermore, during the second quarter, the company decommissioned the coal-fired units (2×60 MW) at its subsidiary, Huaneng Suzhou Thermal Power Co., Ltd.

As of June 30, 2026, the company's total controllable installed power generation capacity stands at 158.8 gigawatts.
