Hong Kong Shares Open Higher as Gold Stocks Rally, AI Application Stocks Gain Momentum

U.S. stock markets closed lower on Monday, as investors remained cautious over Middle East developments and awaited fresh inflation data, leaving major indices with modest declines. The dollar strengthened, while the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note rose to 4.7%. Gold prices continued to climb, and oil prices also moved higher.

Hong Kong's three major stock indexes opened higher on Tuesday. The Hang Seng Index rose 0.24% to 25,998.59 points, while the Hang Seng Tech Index gained 0.27%, and the State-owned Enterprises Index added 0.37%.

In sector performance, technology stocks showed mixed results. Alibaba (BABA-W) rose over 2%, while Xiaomi (XIAOMI-W) fell nearly 1%. AI application stocks were active, with MINIMAX surging more than 4%. Biopharmaceutical stocks opened higher, with Zai Lab Ltd (ZAI LAB) gaining over 4%. Coal stocks saw broad gains, with China Coal Energy rising more than 1%. Gold stocks rallied across the board, as Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining advanced over 2%.
