As the National Day holiday approaches, a wave of cross-regional travel is gradually emerging.

During the 2026 National Day Golden Week (October 1-7), Haikou Meilan International Airport is expected to operate 3,782 flights and handle approximately 564,500 passengers, with the peak expected on October 1, when 552 flights are projected to operate and about 85,000 passengers are expected to be transported. The continuously rising travel demand reflects the strong appeal of Hainan Free Trade Port's tourism and cultural market.

To facilitate passenger travel, Meilan Airport has partnered with major airlines to increase flight capacity deployment. On one hand, on popular routes from Haikou to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Seattle, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, London, Jeddah, Moscow, Madrid and other destinations, 148 wide-body aircraft flights are planned to be deployed. On the other hand, since September, Meilan Airport has successively increased the frequency of the Haikou-Moscow and Haikou-Jakarta routes to 5 flights per week and 10 flights per week respectively, providing more flexible flight schedule options for economic and trade cooperation, cultural and tourism exchanges, and business travel between the two places.

Meanwhile, in addition to regularly offering convenience services such as first-time flyer assistance, late arrival concierge, inquiry guidance, regular check-in counters for international and regional flights, and one-stop service centers for overseas visitors, Meilan Airport has also launched several new heartfelt services: the T1 Unaccompanied Children Handover Center has been officially put into use, creating an independent waiting and handover area for unaccompanied young passengers; the expanded and renovated international transit area has been put into operation, allowing international-to-international and international-to-domestic transit passengers to be channeled separately, shortening the waiting time for transit procedures; and a Meituan "Little Yellow Bee" delivery robot service has been introduced to deliver takeout directly to boarding gates, saving passengers the hassle of traveling back and forth to shops to pick up meals, continuously enriching service offerings and enhancing the passenger travel experience.

In addition, Meilan Airport has prepared multiple exciting themed activities. From September 29 to October 1, the Meilan Airport Youth League Committee, together with Hainan University, Qiongtai Normal University, and Hainan Normal University, formed an airport-university cultural linkage alliance, joining hands with the Hainan Little Wave String Orchestra, Tongcheng Travel, Riyue Plaza and other units to carry out the "Double Celebration Shining at Meilan, Nationwide Joyous Celebration" dual-festival themed cultural event at the T2 departure hall and domestic and international arrival halls. The event features both static cultural tourism markets and dynamic artistic performances, including cultural tourism check-in stamp collecting, intangible cultural heritage DIY, Hainan specialty tasting, themed photo interactions, cultural tourism IP parades, red song and dance instrumental flash mobs, and convenience service presentations, creating an airport travel scene that combines cultural heritage with humanistic warmth. Furthermore, China-Singapore (Hainan) Airport Commercial Management Co., Ltd. has created a light camping pop-up market and a Nanyang train market in the T1 and T2 ride-hailing waiting areas respectively, transforming passengers' waiting time into a distinctive experience scene that integrates viewing and consumption.
