HSBC Holdings plc (HSBC) announced that it repurchased a total of 3.40 million ordinary shares on 18 September 2026 as part of the US$2 billion share buy-back programme launched on 5 August 2026. The latest transactions were split between UK trading venues and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
On UK venues—comprising the London Stock Exchange, Aquis Exchange, Cboe Europe (BXE and CXE) and Turquoise—the bank acquired 3.00 million shares at prices ranging from £15.1340 to £15.4760, with a volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of £15.1716.
On the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, HSBC purchased 400,400 shares at prices between HK$161.10 and HK$164.10, recording a VWAP of HK$162.4208.
Since the commencement of the current buy-back on 5 August 2026, HSBC has repurchased 39.61 million shares for a total consideration of approximately US$815.00 million.
Following cancellation of the shares bought back on UK venues, HSBC’s issued ordinary share capital and total voting rights stand at 17.15 billion. A separate update will be issued once the Hong Kong-repurchased shares are cancelled.
All UK purchases were executed as “on-Exchange” market transactions under the London Stock Exchange rules, while Hong Kong transactions were treated as “on-market share buy-backs” under local regulations.
