MMG (1208) and Anglo-American Nickel Acquisition Enters European Commission Phase II Review

MMG, stock code 1208, announced on 5 November 2025 that, following its conditional agreement dated 18 February 2025 to acquire the Anglo-American nickel business in Brazil, the obligations to complete the transaction are subject to several conditions. These include merger control clearance in multiple jurisdictions, along with filings accepted by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China.

According to the announcement, all conditions have been satisfied except for the European Commission’s merger control decision. The European Commission has moved to a Phase II review, a detailed investigation to assess any anti-competitive concerns related to the acquisition.
