China Construction Machinery Association Reports Mixed July 2026 Sales, with Motor Graders Up 8.81% Year-on-Year

Data released by the China Construction Machinery Association reveals divergent sales performance across major product categories in July 2026. Aerial work platforms surged 67.5% year-on-year, crawler cranes jumped 85.1%, and road rollers climbed 33.2%, showing robust momentum. Conversely, tower cranes fell 12.4% and aerial work vehicles dropped 34.6%, continuing their downward trend. Export volumes maintained overall resilience, with asphalt pavers up 128%, crawler cranes up 98.9%, and road rollers up 72.9%, although truck cranes saw a 3.94% decline and tower cranes a 6.38% drop in overseas shipments.

According to statistics from the association's survey of major motor grader manufacturers, 679 motor graders were sold in July 2026, an 8.81% increase year-on-year. Domestic sales reached 66 units, down 32%, while exports totaled 613 units, up 16.3%. For the January-to-July period, cumulative motor grader sales reached 5,763 units, up 16% year-on-year, comprising 727 domestic units (down 20.5%) and 5,036 export units (up 24.3%).

In the truck crane segment, major manufacturers sold 1,449 units in July 2026, a 6.7% year-on-year increase. Domestic sales rose 17.5% to 791 units, while exports slipped 3.94% to 658 units. From January to July, total truck crane sales hit 13,855 units, up 14.4%, with domestic sales climbing 17.8% to 7,958 units and exports growing 10.1% to 5,897 units.

Crawler crane sales reached 446 units in July, up 85.1% year-on-year, with domestic sales of 90 units (up 45.2%) and exports of 356 units (up 98.9%). The seven-month cumulative total stood at 2,566 units, a 42% increase, driven by a 55.5% surge in exports to 1,945 units and an 11.7% rise in domestic sales to 621 units.

Sales of lorry-mounted cranes totaled 1,856 units in July 2026, up 3.86% year-on-year, though domestic sales fell 6.32% to 1,349 units while exports jumped 46.1% to 507 units. Cumulative January-to-July sales reached 14,487 units, down 4.73%, with domestic sales dropping 5.93% to 11,142 units and exports nearly flat at 3,345 units, a marginal 0.51% decline.

Tower crane sales declined 12.4% year-on-year in July to 359 units, with domestic sales down 17.6% to 183 units and exports off 6.38% to 176 units. For the first seven months, 2,732 units were sold, a 14.1% decrease, comprising 1,379 domestic units (down 19.7%) and 1,353 export units (down 7.58%).

In the industrial vehicle sector, fork lift truck sales excluding electric pedestrian warehouse vehicles reached 51,143 units in July, up 13.3% year-on-year, with domestic sales growing 5.99% to 29,716 units and exports rising 25.2% to 21,427 units. Cumulative sales of this category totaled 385,982 units from January to July, up 9.6%, including 244,830 domestic units (up 3.29%) and 141,152 export units (up 22.6%). Including all fork lift truck types, July sales hit 147,839 units, a 24.6% increase, with domestic sales of 85,608 units (including 1,139 AGVs) up 22.8% and exports of 62,231 units (including 41 AGVs) up 27.2%. The seven-month total reached 1,009,773 units, up 17.7%, comprising 629,457 domestic units (including 6,555 AGVs) up 15.3% and 380,316 export units (including 593 AGVs) up 22%.

Road roller sales reached 1,878 units in July, up 33.2% year-on-year, though domestic sales declined 30% to 381 units while exports soared 72.9% to 1,497 units. Cumulative sales from January to July totaled 13,453 units, up 24.2%, with domestic sales down 11.2% to 3,704 units and exports up 46.3% to 9,749 units.

Asphalt paver sales reached 122 units in July, up 11.9% year-on-year, with domestic sales falling 22.6% to 65 units and exports surging 128% to 57 units. The seven-month cumulative total was 1,074 units, up 7.51%, including 597 domestic units (down 18.9%) and 477 export units (up 81.4%).

Aerial work platform sales climbed 67.5% year-on-year in July to 22,706 units, with domestic sales up 88.7% to 9,620 units and exports up 54.7% to 13,086 units. Cumulative sales from January to July reached 134,273 units, up 26.6%, comprising 45,822 domestic units (up 9.64%) and 88,451 export units (up 37.6%).

Aerial work vehicle sales dropped 34.6% year-on-year in July to 261 units, with domestic sales falling 36% to 251 units while exports grew 42.9% to 10 units. For the first seven months, total sales reached 2,760 units, down 2.95%, including 2,584 domestic units (down 4.44%) and 176 export units (up 25.7%).
