A massive gold theft recently occurred in Nanjing's Jiangning District, where 27 kilograms of gold, valued at over 27 million yuan, was stolen from a store.

Following the crime, public security organs at the provincial, municipal, and district levels quickly coordinated, forming a special task force. Under the overall command of the provincial department's leadership and direct supervision by the municipal bureau's leadership, the task force pursued the suspects across eight provinces.

Through the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism, a cross-border arrest operation was conducted, successfully apprehending all 11 suspects and recovering all 27 kilograms of gold. This case is the largest gold theft by value solved in China to date.

A ride-hailing driver informed the police that he received an order on the afternoon of the 15th, requesting a pickup near the Nanjing toll station on the Ninghang Expressway early the next morning. Around 5 a.m. on the 16th, he picked up a man.

After boarding, the passenger changed the destination multiple times and urged the driver to hurry. He was finally dropped off at a hotel entrance in Nanning, Guangxi, around 9 p.m. on the 17th.

Having driven a total of approximately 2,000 kilometers, the fare exceeded 7,000 yuan. The passenger claimed to have no cash and instead broke off half a gold bar to pay the fare. This action ultimately exposed the suspect's whereabouts.
