Qatar has decided to delay a major expansion of the world's largest liquefied natural gas export terminal, following an attack on one of its LNG carriers in the Strait of Hormuz, which has heightened market concerns over the security of this critical shipping route.

Informed sources have disclosed that after the attack on the transport vessel on Tuesday, senior executives at QatarEnergy held multiple emergency meetings. The company's CEO, Saad al-Kaabi, ultimately made the decision to put the expansion plans for the Ras Laffan industrial complex on hold.

Some of these sources, who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the information, stated that for security reasons, operations at the terminal will be maintained at a minimum level. The number of ships scheduled to dock at the facility in the coming days will also be reduced.
