United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB) announced on Aug, 05 2026 that it has signed an agreement for Allianz Global Investors to acquire UOB Asset Management, covering operations in Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

The transaction is valued at 555 million Singapore dollars and is expected to close in 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. Upon completion, UOB and Allianz Global Investors will enter a long-term strategic distribution partnership aimed at expanding investment products and strengthening UOB’s advisory-led wealth offering to more than 8 million customers across ASEAN.

UOB said the deal, excluding one-off transaction costs, is projected to generate a pre-tax gain of about 330 million Singapore dollars and lift the Group’s Common Equity Tier 1 ratio by roughly 14 basis points.

All 500 employees of UOB Asset Management will transfer to Allianz Global Investors, which has pledged to maintain their employment and provide access to its global investment platform. UOB added that customers can continue to invest in and redeem UOB Asset Management funds without disruption during the transition.

UOB Asset Management, part of the bank for 40 years, managed approximately 42 billion Singapore dollars in assets as of Dec, 31 2025. The unaudited pro-forma net asset value of the stake being sold was 223 million Singapore dollars.
