An extensive theft of gold has taken place in Nanjing, with a reported 27 kilograms of gold stolen from a local store, leading to an estimated loss exceeding 27 million yuan.
Following the incident, public security organs at the provincial, municipal, and district levels coordinated swiftly, establishing a specialized task force. High-ranking officials from the provincial department provided overarching command, while municipal bureau leaders directed operations directly.
The investigation team pursued the case across eight provinces, ultimately conducting a cross-border arrest through the Lancang-Mekong cooperation mechanism. All 11 suspects involved in the crime were successfully apprehended, and the entire 27 kilograms of stolen gold was recovered.
This case is noted as the highest-value gold theft successfully solved in the country to date.
