On December 26, Sunwoda Electronic Co., Ltd. disclosed in an announcement that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery Co., Ltd., has been sued by WeRide Electric Vehicle Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. over a sales contract dispute, involving a substantial claim of 2.314 billion yuan. According to the announcement, the case has been formally accepted by the Ningbo Intermediate People's Court of Zhejiang Province under case number (2025) Zhe 02 Min Chu No. 1870 and is currently in the pre-trial stage, not yet heard in court.

The plaintiff alleges that the battery cells delivered by Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery between June 2021 and December 2023 had serious quality issues, resulting in significant economic losses. Consequently, the plaintiff has filed multiple claims, including compensation for losses, coverage of appraisal and attorney fees, and all litigation costs.

Sunwoda stated in its announcement that, as of the disclosure date, the production and operations of the company and its consolidated subsidiaries remain normal. The lawsuit has not yet gone to trial, and the final judgment is uncertain, making it temporarily impossible to assess the impact on the company's current or future profits. The company will conduct appropriate accounting treatments in accordance with the Accounting Standards for Business Enterprises, based on the progress of the case, with the final impact on profits to be determined by data confirmed after auditor review.

Sunwoda also mentioned that it is actively seeking reasonable solutions, enhancing communication and negotiation with relevant parties, and striving to resolve the litigation matter properly and promptly.

It is understood that Sunwoda, headquartered in Shenzhen and founded in 1997, initially focused on consumer battery pack business. In October 2014, it registered and established Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery, formally entering the electric vehicle battery sector. According to its financial report, Sunwoda achieved revenue of 43.534 billion yuan and a net profit of 1.405 billion yuan in the first three quarters of 2025.

The plaintiff in this dispute, WeRide Electric Vehicle Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd., was established in 2013. According to its official website, the company is a subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, headquartered in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and specializes in the R&D, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service of new energy vehicle power batteries, e-drive systems, charging systems, and energy storage systems.

Inquiries were made to Geely Auto regarding the situation, but no official response had been received by the time of publication.
