Samsung Electronics reported on Thursday that its second-quarter operating profit surged by an extraordinary 19 times, reaching a new record high. This performance was fueled by robust demand for artificial intelligence chips, which successfully offset a decline in earnings from its mobile business.

The world's largest memory chip manufacturer posted an operating profit of 89.5 trillion Korean won (equivalent to 61.98 billion U.S. dollars) for the April to June period. This figure aligns closely with the company's own estimate of 89.4 trillion won and represents a substantial leap from the 4.68 trillion won recorded in the same period last year.

Quarterly revenue for the South Korean company also soared by 130% compared to the previous year, reaching 171.5 trillion Korean won.
