Samsung Electronics is expected to announce a fresh shareholder return program on Friday, with the initiative potentially reaching as high as 110 trillion Korean won ($79 billion), according to sources familiar with the matter.

The company's board of directors is scheduled to convene after the local stock market closes, around 4 p.m. local time, with details of the plan expected to be released shortly after the meeting concludes. The shareholder return package is anticipated to fall within a range of 90 trillion to 110 trillion Korean won, the sources indicated.

Samsung declined to comment on the matter. Earlier media reports noted that the board would gather on Friday, with the outcome of the session expected to shed further light on the company's capital allocation strategy and cash flow outlook.
